about us
Welcome

Kishi Karate is a traditional Japanese martial art that stresses self-control, mental focus and physical endurance. Its founder, Sensei Nobuyuki Kishi, has practiced for more than three decades and taught in cities across the world - including his home country of Japan, the United States and in Europe. Each class begins with four solemn bows, followed by stretches and a run-through of basic punching and kicking techniques. Students then hone their fighting skills in routines called kata. After that come calisthenics and sparring bouts called kumite, before class concludes with four more bows. The one-hour, 15-minute session is interspersed with pauses for meditation.
